Job Summary
  • The Cardiac Rehab RN is responsible for the nursing care of patients in cardiac rehab, including teaching, exercise prescription, and communication with physicians and the Cardiac Rehab Nurse Manager.
General Hours of Work
  • Monday through Friday (8‑10 hours per pay period)
Education and Experience
  • Previous experience taking blood pressures and working with patients in a rehab setting is helpful. Rhythm and telemetry recognition experience is helpful.
  • Bi‑lingual experience preferred but not required. Experience with EKG rhythm recognition preferred.
  • ACLS Certification required within 6 months of hire.
Certificates and Licenses
  • Licensed as RN in the state of Iowa.
  • BLS and ACLS certified within 3 months of hire date.
Essential Functions
  • Compiles patient information prior to admission to the program.
  • Develops exercise prescription for each individual patient and monitors the patient during exercise.
  • Communicates with the physician and Nurse Manager regarding patient progress.
  • Continually evaluates the patient visually, verbally and through diagnostic procedures (e.g., blood pressure) during the cardiac rehab program.
  • Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice through the administration and evaluation of patient care.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
