The Operations General Supervisor will provide day-to-day leadership and management for Production Supervisors at the Seaboard Triumph Foods Sioux City Plant. Establish means and methods to insure all Supervisors perform job functions correctly and safely. Ensure production outputs are met, adhere to company policies and procedures, and responsible for employee performance and retention. Cover production activities in the absence of Production Supervisors.
Must possess a high level of technical proficiency to assist operators in problem solving while exercising considerable judgement and have the ability to supervise the production process. Direct the routine maintenance and set-up of machines, equipment and facilities.
- Provide the day-to-day leadership and management for Supervisors and sanitation employees in department.
- Maintain safety or ergonomic programs to ensure a safe working environment.
- Responsibilities include training employees to ensure safe operating procedures are being followed, including lock-out/tag-out; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Be an active member on the Safety Committee.
- Assign, direct and monitor work.
- Responsible for performance appraisal, development, and discipline. Must be able to address and resolve issues.
- Ensure all new hires and existing employees perform their jobs safely, correctly and with the highest level of quality and ability.
- Responsible for meeting established production targets, quality and yield standards.
- Communicate daily expectations, direction and instructions and provide ongoing feedback to employees. Communicate any changes in policies or procedures as needed.
- Develop collaborative working relationship with all departments in the Plant.
- Complete all reports accurately and timely.
- Set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to personnel.
- Maintain a high standard of employee relations.
- Walk the floor daily to address immediate questions and concerns; conduct monthly line meetings.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, accident investigation analysis, conduct departmental safety meetings, and utilize equipment provided for employee protection.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in a related field (technical, engineering, management) plus 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing industry; 2 years fresh pork experience is preferred or the combination of education and experience that enables performance in all aspects of the position. Prior supervisory experience is required.
