Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN - Labor & Delivery for night shifts at a high-acuity, high-volume delivery center in Iowa with floating and holiday rotation required.

• Work in a Labor & Delivery unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes high-risk obstetric patients with a large non-English speaking community
• Handles approximately 160-180 deliveries per month in a high-volume center
• Required to float to Post-Partum for 1-2 shifts per week
• Night shifts, 12 hours, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours/week
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities; occasional extra shift in lieu of on-call
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Responsible for triage and assessment prior to physician arrival due to limited on-site physician coverage
• Part of an interdisciplinary team caring for high-risk and high-acuity OB patients
• Orientation provided (NBO: 16 hours)
• First time travelers are not specified as accepted or declined; prior travel experience preferred
• Holiday schedule requires working 2 out of 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• Must have strong clinical assessment skills, especially in high-volume, high-risk environments

• Active Iowa or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience
• Experience in high-acuity, high-volume delivery centers (200-300 deliveries/month) within the past year required
• High-risk delivery experience required
• Circulating experience required; scrub experience encouraged
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, and AWHONN required
• Epic Stork experience encouraged
• Must be able to float to Post-Partum as needed
• Must have completed multiple travel contracts (encouraged)
• Must have a taxable address at least 50 miles from the facility
