Overview
Sioux City Parks and Recreation department is seeking (24) twenty-four enthusiastic individuals to work as Cashier/Concession Workers. Employees in this position work in the concession stand or front gate/counter. Experience working with food and operating a cash register is not required but preferred. Must follow sanitary food policies. Some experience in dealing with the public is preferred but not required.
Employees will work up to 40 hours per week. Must be available to work nights, weekdays/weekends, and holidays.
Required:
Must be 15 years old.
Employment will be May 1, 2026 through August 25, 2026.
Responsibilities- Takes admission money and check season pass numbers.
- Answers questions pertaining to programs and hours.
- Prepares for opening and close out register at end of shift.
- Accounts for all money taken.
- Prepares end of day reports and prepare money for bank deposit.
- Cleans admission control area.
- Minors preparation of concession food items.
- Cleans concession areas and food preparation areas.
- Receives money for sales and follow accounting practices.
- Responds to citizens’ questions and concerns in a courteous and timely manner.
- Performs other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the position as assigned by management.
- Expected to temporarily perform duties outside of normal classification in the event of a emergency. In the event that an employee is excused from work other than being sick, they will be required to report to work in a state of declared emergency.
Must be 15 years old at the time of employment start date.
Some experience in dealing with the public, and experience with a cash register is preferred.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.

Physical RequirementsRegularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 30 pounds.
Work EnvironmentWork may be performed inside a typical inside office environment with appropriate heating and cooling or in outdoor field conditions, which include varying weather conditions, occupational or environmental hazards typically associated with general public contact, and varying street level noises; and touring work sites that are in various stages of development.
