Position Overview
Are you passionate about safety and technical excellence? We are seeking a dedicated Fire Alarm Technician/Inspector to join our team. In this role, you will inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm systems in commercial and industrial buildings, ensuring compliance with fire safety codes and standards. You will play a key part in identifying hazards, recommending corrective actions, and delivering high‑quality service that reflects our commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
This position may be performed independently or as part of a team.
- Inspect buildings and structures to identify fire hazards and code violations; recommend corrective actions to ensure compliance.
- Conduct onsite inspections, test fire protection systems, and replace defective fire detection equipment.
- Use hand tools, specialty equipment, and laptops to program fire alarm software; read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Work at various heights using ladders, scissor lifts, and boom lifts; perform on‑call duties and flexible hours, including weekends, as required.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills and maintain a professional, safety‑focused approach while traveling to jobsites.
- High School diploma and NICET I certification required; NICET II or higher certification preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience installing or maintaining fire alarm systems, with knowledge of AC/DC circuitry and low‑voltage systems.
- Ability to safely climb ladders, operate lifts, use hand tools, lift up to 40 pounds, and perform overhead work.
- Proficient in reading schematics and programming software.
- Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements; willingness to travel as needed.
- This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. All pay rates, benefits, and employment terms are determined and administered by the union.
