Job Summary
Tired of working tax season hours? Looking for a great position that does not require weekends and includes a pension through the South Dakota Retirement System? SECOG seeks a skilled Accountant to handle complex accounting tasks and prepare financial reports for the South Eastern Council of Governments, South Eastern Development Foundation, and Dakota BUSINESS Finance. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

The South Eastern Council of Governments does not sponsor work visas for new or existing employees. Key Responsibilities
- Accounting Operations:
Manage payroll, receipts, payments, reconcile ledgers, and journalize transactions. - Financial Assistance:
Support reconciliation, resolve discrepancies, and ensure budget compliance. - Financial Reporting:
Compile monthly and annual financial statements, departmental summaries, and audit documentation. - Regulatory Compliance:
Review transactions for compliance and document financial procedures. - Benefits Administration:
Manage employee benefits per organizational policies. - Project Management:
Conduct special projects to improve accounting processes. - Public Interaction:
Address public inquiries and resolve accounting-related issues. - Additional Duties:
Perform other related tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
- 3+ years of accounting experience;
Master’s in Accounting and CPA preferred. - Valid driver’s license required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of accounting principles, business practices, and GAAP.
- Ability to analyze financial documents and prepare reports.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Quick Books.
- Capacity to work independently and learn accounting systems.
