Wage:

$20/hour + up to $2/hour shift differential

Schedule:

Week 1 - Sunday: 1pm-11pm, Tuesday: 1pm-11pm, Wednesday: 1pm-11pm Thursday: 1pm-11pm

Week 2 - Monday: 1pm-11pm, Tuesday: 1pm-11pm, Friday: 1pm-11pm, Saturday: 1pm-11pm

Position Overview

Children's Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Youth Care Provider to provide crisis and non-crisis intervention services for the children in the shelter and perform various shelter tasks. What You Will Do
  • Care of Children: Maintain vigilant child supervision. Assist children with hygiene, diet, dressing and bathing. Assist with supervised visitations. Assist with routine appointments for children and transport as necessary. May assist in administration of medications to children. Complete child departure requirements.
  • Child Behavior: Complete behavioral, CPS reports and all necessary documentation by the end of each shift. Utilize approved behavior management techniques to respond to behaviors.
  • Safety, Policies and Procedures: Ensure safety standards and infection control policies are followed.
  • Program Management: Facilitate structured programs, i.e., games, outdoor recreation, etc. Assist with daily, monthly and special event activities for children in shelter. Assist with training needs of staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Shelter

    Activities:

    May coordinate and facilitate shelter and non-shelter programs as assigned. Assist in keeping the shelter clean and orderly. Serve as back up for crisis telephone calls, drop-in counseling sessions, shelter intakes and departures.
  • Professional Development: Complete required annual training. Maintain required certifications.

Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED Required. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, or Human Services field preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year experience in childcare preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Environment focused on care of individuals in crisis situations. The employee is regularly required to bend and sit on the floor. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to physically restrain a child in ways taught by the Agency while being able to verbally communicate to the child and other staff.
