Location: Onsite presence 5 days a week at our project site in Oglala, SD. Per diem will be provided for those willing to travel or relocate from other locations.
About The JobThe Tepa Companies are seeking a Quality Control Manager with a strong background in heavy civil construction on dams. The manager will oversee and enforce project‑site quality control, using discretion to assess and control risk, perform tests and analyze results, plan, develop, and direct processes to maintain quality standards, and initiate and enforce improvement measures related to quality control findings.
Job Functions- Oversees construction projects from start to finish, focusing on quality control.
- Conducts preparatory, initial, and follow‑up meetings to establish standards of care.
- Verifies that plans, procedures, and checklists are used and signed off before work begins.
- Verifies and documents that all materials received are in conformance with submittals and acceptable for use.
- Conducts required meetings with the superintendent, foreman, and subcontractor before each new phase.
- Independently reviews plans, specifications, and cost data to identify potential quality risk factors.
- Reviews shop drawings and submittals for conformance with specifications.
- Performs specified or required tests to verify control measures meet contract requirements.
- Oversees subcontractors to ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.
- Collaborates with the project superintendent and maintains daily "as‑built" drawings.
- Develops, updates, and maintains the project submittal log and related reporting.
- Provides written daily QC reports reinforcing construction in conformance with standards.
- Schedules, documents, and maintains a log of all required inspections.
- Verifies that necessary inspections, approvals, and certifications by appropriate agencies are completed.
- Assembles and forwards project closeout documents.
- Uses discretion to stop work if safety, quality, or project logic are affected.
- Advises on changes to methods and materials for use in projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
- 5+ years of QC experience in heavy civil, infrastructure, or dam remediation projects.
- Proven experience establishing and maintaining effective QC systems on construction projects.
- Extensive knowledge of construction materials, methods, terminology, and documentation.
- Strong knowledge of project plans, specifications, shop drawings, samples, and testing.
- Understanding of administrative and management principles for project planning and resource allocation.
- Proficiency with construction industry computer software and ability to create new QC programs.
- Excellent time‑management skills.
- Professional verbal and written communication abilities.
- OSHA 30‑hour Construction Safety & Health training within the last 5 years.
- First aid/CPR certification.
