Elementary Spanish ImmersionThe specialized language immersion program allows English‑proficient students to become bilingual and bi‑literate in Spanish. Students attending the immersion program receive all classroom instruction in Spanish beginning in kindergarten. Through exposure to and practice with the language, students gain understanding and develop language proficiency. English language arts are introduced beginning in 3rd‑5th grade.

What Makes You a Good Fit?- Bachelor’s degree required.
- South Dakota certification or licensure with endorsements in the areas of teaching assignment required
. - As part of the certification requirements with the Department of Education, candidates must submit a Foreign Credential Evaluation. To do this, candidates can use any NACES or AICE approved agencies.

! - Successful student teaching or experience teaching in a Spanish learning environment.
- Native or near native Spanish skills with the ability to speak, read, and write fluently in Spanish and English.
- Meet District Spanish language competency standards for oral and written proficiency established through objective means selected by the District and through lesson demonstration.

- Compensation:
Starting at $52,821 to $59,485, based on experience. - Health Benefits:

Instructional Coach and Mentoring program for educators who are new to the Sioux Falls School District
Bachelor’s degree and eligibility for or possession of valid South Dakota teaching certificate required. Student teaching or prior teaching experience in Spanish learning environment.
Experience DesiredAbility to share authentic-Spanish cultural experiences gained through personal experience living in Spanish speaking country or location. Previous Spanish Language Immersion program teaching experience desired.
Physical RequirementsHand-eye, mind-eye coordination. Constant hearing; intermittent speaking, standing, walking and writing. Frequent carrying, keyboarding, and other repetitive motions.
Other RequirementsSkills in human relations, leadership and conflict management. Knowledgeable of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students. Demonstrated skills in the use of technology to enhance student learning.
CertificationThis position requires a valid South Dakota teaching certification with one of the following endorsements:
