Administers speech and language evaluations, tests, or examinations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients/patients/residents with various speech problems and swallowing disorders. Assesses clients/patients/residents with speech, language, cognitive, or swallowing problems and develops individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses. Provides speech and language services; monitors disease progression and adjusts treatments accordingly. Instructs patients in therapeutic exercises and provides consultation throughout the treatment process.
Ensures all speech and language standards, policies, protocols, and quality requirements are met. Documents in accordance with departmental guidelines and meets all regulatory requirements. Follows accepted clinical practice guidelines of professional organizations. May treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnoses and disorders. Demonstrates flexibility and variable work schedules. Participates in departmental and organizational activities, interacting with providers, case managers, third‑party payers, and public organizations.
Supervises assistants, aides, and students in patient care. Provides ongoing education and training to peers as determined by department leadership. Performs other related duties as requested by the manager. Primarily works with post‑acute, long‑term care, and home health care environments when applicable.

- Ensure compliance with all speech and language standards, policies, protocols, and quality requirements.
- Document treatment plans and progress in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with accepted clinical practice guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate flexibility with variable work schedules and assignments.
- Participate in departmental and organizational activities, interacting with providers, case managers, third‑party payers, and public organizations.
- Supervise assistants, aides, and students in patient care.
- Provide ongoing education and training to peers as determined by department leadership.
- Perform other related duties as requested by the manager.
- Work primarily with post‑acute, long‑term care, and home health care environments when applicable.
- Appropriate education level for state licensure.
- Licensed in the state(s) of practice as a Speech‑Language Pathologist.
- Preferred:
Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by ASHA or current Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). - When applicable, valid driver’s license may be required.
- Maintain required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days.
