Estate & Business Succession Planning Attorney

Goosmann Law Firm is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Estate & Business Succession Attorney to join our estate planning and corporate law practice. This role is ideal for an attorney with a strong background in complex estate planning matters, closely held business structures, and succession planning for high-net-worth individuals and business owners.

This is a client‑facing role that involves working closely with family‑owned businesses, executives, and entrepreneurs to design sophisticated, tax‑efficient plans that preserve wealth across generations.

• Advise clients on estate, gift, and generation‑skipping transfer (GST) tax strategies.
• Develop and implement comprehensive business succession plans for family‑owned and closely held businesses.
• Structure and draft estate planning documents, including complex trusts (e.g., GRATs, ILITs, SLATs, IDGTs).
• Coordinate with clients’ financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to deliver integrated planning solutions.
• Analyze and plan for liquidity needs and tax liabilities personally and related to business interests.
• Assist with lifetime gifting strategies, intra‑family transfers, entity restructuring, and charitable planning.
• Stay current on federal and state tax law developments impacting estate and succession planning.

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• LL.M. in Taxation preferred but not required.
• CAP designation a plus.
• Active bar membership required in one, but preferred in more, of the following:
  Nebraska, Iowa and/or South Dakota.
• 5–10+ years of experience in estate planning, business succession planning, or a related field.
• Familiarity with business entity structures (LLCs, S‑corps, partnerships) and ownership transfer mechanisms.
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships with high‑net‑worth clients and business owners.
• Proven ability to manage complex planning projects independently or as part of a team.
