Full‑time (40 hours/week) - Seniority Level: Mid‑Senior
- Provide psychiatric services, psychosocial and physical assessment of patients, treatment plans, and manage patient care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team and consult with medical providers as needed
- Establish diagnoses, order and interpret studies, perform therapeutic procedures, manage follow‑up care
- Prescribe and regulate medications relative to patient needs
- Record and document health appraisal data accurately and timely
- Communicate findings of assessments and diagnostic tests to patients, physicians, and other providers
- Develop, provide, and re‑evaluate treatment plans systematically
- Make referrals for services outside the DOC Clinical Services scope of practice for Behavioral Health
- Provide assessment, consultation, and brief intervention for psychological/psychiatric problems and/or disorders
- Maintain documentation of patient encounters via progress notes and treatment planning per DOC policy
- Maintain necessary NP registration/licensure as required by South Dakota state law
- Adhere to policies related to patient confidentiality and HIPAA
- Perform other tasks/duties as assigned
- Licensed to practice as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in the State of South Dakota
- Certified by ANCC or ANA as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
- Current and valid DEA licensure
- Ability to provide direct patient care to offenders
- Skill in office‑based procedures
- Maintain professionalism in a complex environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative ability with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in English reading, speaking, and writing
- Ability to create accessible documents and technical content following plain language guidelines
- Experience providing medical care in a correctional environment
- Previous experience working as a PMHNP
- Experience managing mental health conditions as a mid‑level provider
