Department Details:
Monday‑through‑Friday, no weekends or call. Perform US‑guided procedures such as para‑/thoracentesis & thyroid biopsies under the direction of IR radiologists. Assist with tube management. Perform inpatient rounding on IR patients needing follow‑up.
Job Summary:
The Physician Assistant (PA) provides services in designated settings, including acute, short‑and long‑term care. The PA assists physicians, assesses patients, treats injuries and ailments, obtains history, performs examinations, interprets information, formulates diagnoses, coordinates care, prescribes medications legally authorized, maintains records, makes referrals, provides health education, participates in research, incorporates evidence‑based practice, and stays current with regulations.
- Perform US‑guided procedures, e.g., para‑/thoracentesis and thyroid biopsies under attending IR radiologists.
- Assist with tube management and patient care.
- Conduct inpatient rounds on IR patients requiring follow‑up.
- Assess patients, obtain histories, perform examinations, formulate diagnoses, and coordinate appropriate care.
- Prescribe medications as legally authorized and prescribe controlled substances under DEA permit.
- Maintain detailed, timely patient records and documentation.
- Provide patient and family education on self‑management, prevention, and treatment plans.
- Participate in clinical research studies and evidence‑based practice improvements.
- Comply with all state legal regulations for advanced practice provider practice.
- Master’s or Baccalaureate degree (or Associate’s if training prior to 1994).
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program (ARC‑PA or predecessor).
- Current Medicare, Medicaid, managed‑care, and private payer knowledge.
- Demonstrated competence treating at least 30 patients in the past 12 months or completion of ARC‑PA program within the past 12 months.
- Current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Current DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances.
- Preferred:
Physician Assistant or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner background.
