Sitka Fine Arts Camp Counselor – Seasonal (Summer 2026)

Job Title: Counselor

Dates: Arrive Sunday, June 7th and depart Monday, July 13th. Counselors may indicate interest in Musical Theater Camp (depart Monday, August
3).

Camp schedule: 7 days per week.

Compensation:

  • Room on campus from arrival day through morning of departure day.
  • Board on campus from arrival day through breakfast on departure day.
  • $2,600 stipend for those hired for Musical Theater Camp.

Travel: Counselors are responsible for their own travel.

Supervision: Director of Students.

Minimum Qualifications: At least 20 years of age by June 10, 2026.

Position

Description:

SFAC's Camp Counselors support campers' growth as people and artists nselors supervise students, lead activities, maintain safety, assist with classes, and help with setup/cleanup.

Specific Position Duties:

  • Provide student supervision during times not in classes: meals, recreation, dorms, off‑campus activities.
  • Provide organized recreational activities each day.
  • Understand and adhere to all camp rules and Fine Arts Campus rules.
  • Exhibit role‑model behavior around students.
  • Maintain a safe environment by anticipating conflicts, enforcing rules, and observing safety procedures.
  • Oversee security and comfort in dormitories, reside in dorm, guide assigned students, assist with room check‑in, check‑out and cleanup.
  • Assist upset or homesick students with empathy and advocacy, refer to Director of Students as needed.
  • Participate in rotational camp activities: meal supervision, class assistance, evening programs, transportation, cleaning, and other activities.
  • Assist with campus, classroom and dorm set‑up, turnover, and cleanup.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Please Note:

  • Counselors must maintain a drug, tobacco, and alcohol free environment while supervising students and will not store such substances on campus.
  • Counselors help create an inclusive environment, accepting diverse backgrounds and not imposing personal views.
  • Employees must abide by the Cell Phone Policy: cell phones allowed only during breaks, stored in staff room, remain silent during work.
