Job Description
NANA Management Services (NMS) is seeking a dedicated and caring individual to serve as Residential Life Professional to support Mount Edgecumbe High School. This role is crucial in fostering a supportive, safe, and culturally enriching living and learning environment for students from diverse communities across Alaska. The Residential Life Professional will serve as a mentor, advisor, and positive role model, contributing to the holistic development and well‑being of our students within the residential setting.
This position requires a deep understanding of and respect for Alaska Native cultures, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to the success of our unique student body. This position is an employee of NANA Management Services and is stationed at Mount Edgecumbe High School in Sitka, Alaska.
- Serve as a primary point of contact and trusted adult for resident students, offering guidance on academic, social, emotional, and cultural matters. Offer mentorship and support that is culturally sensitive and responsive to individual student needs. Connect students with relevant school and community resources.
- Provide well‑rounded programming opportunities for all residential students and to manage the daily schedule of student activities, resource development and transportation needs.
- Ensure the academic success of all students by working closely as a liaison with the academic staff and residential staff.
- Provide outdoor programming opportunities for all students and focus on leadership development of students.
- Act as a role model and assist students in learning how to make good decisions by focusing on at‑risk students and assisting them in reversing destructive behaviors.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of all resident students by enforcing school policies, responding to student concerns, and addressing emergencies in accordance with established protocols. Maintain a visible and supportive presence in the residential halls.
- Maintain open and effective communication with students' families and home communities, respecting cultural protocols and fostering strong partnerships in support of student success.
- May supervise and mentor Resident Advisors within the residential halls, providing guidance and support in their roles.
- Other duties as assigned and qualified for.
