Provides respiratory therapy modalities per protocol and those ordered by physicians to improve the cardiopulmonary conditions of patients from neonatal to geriatric ages.

Key Essential Functions And Accountabilities Of The Job- Participates in the assessment, administration, and evaluation of respiratory therapy treatments, pulmonary function testing, performs extubations, airway management, and ventilatory life support for critical adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
- Collaborates with other health‑care professionals to obtain, interpret, and evaluate pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gases, airway management, and respiratory treatments.
- Provides instruction to patients on the use of respiratory therapy equipment, inhalation gases, and other therapies related to the treatment of respiratory diseases and/or promotion of respiratory wellness.
- Responsible for cleaning, caring for, and maintaining all equipment used in respiratory treatments and pulmonary function testing.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.
- Equivalence to graduation from high school and successful completion of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
- Credentialed by the NBRC as a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist at time of hire.
- Respiratory Therapy license from any state.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support.
- ACLS & PALS required within 3 months of hire.
- Clinical competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years.
- High Risk competency required within 3 months of hire and annually.
- Two years’ experience as a certified Respiratory Therapist preferred.
- Respiratory care modalities for adults, pediatrics, and neonatal patients.
- Use of mechanical ventilators skillfully, offer alternative solutions, and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Accurately interpret arterial blood gases and use mechanical ventilators while working alone or unsupervised.
- Work under adverse conditions such as communicable infectious diseases.
- Up to 25% travel expected.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association, Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association, Certified Respiratory Therapist – National Board for Respiratory Care, Clinical Competency Assessment – SEARHC, High Risk Competency – SEARHC, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association, Respiratory Therapist License – State of Alaska.
