Description

Alaska Northstar Federal is seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our team on a long-term project that may be awarded before the end of the calendar year. This is a fully remote opportunity and the position covers planning and delivery of customer support services including installation, troubleshooting, user assistance and training.

Responsibilities for the role will include, but not be limited to:

• Diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents
• Planning and analysis of work processes
• Researching and reporting trends and patterns of problems
• Developing training materials and performing computing/information system training sessions
• Developing and maintaining problem tracking databases
• Installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and software
• Performing backup and recovery operations
• Consulting with users to identify needs and requirements
• Conducting feasibility studies and trade‑off analyses
• Preparing business cases
• Ensuring the rigorous application of information security/Cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices.

Requirements

Minimum Candidate Requirements

• Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen
• Candidate must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher
• Candidate must have an active Security+ CE (or equivalent 8570 IAT Level II Certification)
• Candidate must have one of the following Google Cloud Platform certifications:

• Google Associate Cloud Engineer
• Google Professional Cloud Architect

Plus One Of The Following

• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
• AWS Certified Security – Specialty
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
• AWS Certified Sys Ops Administrator
• Microsoft Certified:
  Azure Administrator Associate
• Microsoft Certified:
  Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• Microsoft Certified Azure Security Engineer Associate
• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Cloud Operations
• Red Hat Certified Engineer
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator

Candidate must have at least 6+ years of experience in the field of Information Technology.

Candidate must have 3+ years experience with the following:

• Supporting Department of Defense (DoD) IT hosting solutions.
• Experience administering Windows and Linux operating systems in large enterprise environments.
• Proficiency and understanding of network fundamentals, VPNs, firewalls, and remote access solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills:
  Proficiency in problem‑solving and troubleshooting complex issues, with the ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, communicate to management and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
