Overview
Registered Nurse - Long Term Care. SEARHC is a non-profit health consortium serving the health interests of residents of Southeast Alaska. Pay Range: $44.57 - $62.80
Responsibilities- Coordinates nursing care procedures for residents of various ages, considering resident conditions and treatment.
- Participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other healthcare team members to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the long-term care setting.
- Follows physician orders, standards of care, nursing policies and procedures, manuals, hospital and long-term care policies.
- Make clinical decisions independently during shifts; remain accountable for actions taken; consult with the manager/supervisor in difficult situations.
- Delegate and supervise CNA/Tech, LPN, and/or Ward Clerk on the unit during the shift as appropriate.
- Respond to emergencies calmly and apply sound nursing judgments; manage emergencies and changes in patient status.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (Bachelor’s, Associate, or Diploma in Nursing).
- Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or another U.S. state;
Direct Hire must have applied for Alaska nursing license before start date;
Agency staff must have an active Alaska license. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years.
- High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every year.
- Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of nursing care principles, practices, diagnosis, and processes to provide professional nursing care to residents.
- Ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and act promptly in emergencies.
- Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, effects, side effects, and complications.
- Proficiency in applying scientific principles in operating and monitoring basic and specialized medical equipment (e.g., AED).
- Proficient in nursing procedures and basic care.
- Strong oral and written communication; accurate data entry and ability to communicate findings with the healthcare team.
- Provide guidance and leadership; work cooperatively with residents, patients, visitors, and healthcare team.
- Implement nursing interventions based on a wide range of diagnoses and expected complications.
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts with residents, visitors, or staff.
- Regularly communicate and hear; stand, walk, sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; must lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association.
- Clinical Competency Assessment - SEARHC.
- High Risk Competency - SEARHC.
- Registered Nurse License - Alaska State Board of Nursing.
