Consultant Public Liaison Officer

We are seeking a proactive and confident Consultant Public Liaison Officer to support a major highways scheme in Kent. Working as part of our client's Southern Region team, you will play a key role in promoting positive relationships and maintaining clear, consistent communication between the project team, clients, stakeholders, and the general public.

This is an excellent opportunity for a well-organised communicator who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and wants to make a meaningful impact on a high-profile infrastructure project.

Key Responsibilities

· Act as the primary point of contact for public, community, and stakeholder enquiries related to the scheme.

· Build strong relationships with local communities, clients, businesses, and interest groups.

· Support the delivery of a robust communications and engagement strategy.

· Prepare and distribute timely, accurate updates including newsletters, notices, and event materials.

· Manage public information events, site visits, and meetings.

· Monitor feedback and concerns, ensuring timely responses in line with project commitments.

· Work closely with project managers, engineers, and the wider communications team to ensure consistent messaging.

· Maintain detailed records of engagement activities and correspondence.

About You
We're looking for someone who is:

· An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a confident, engaging approach.

· Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

· Comfortable working independently and using initiative.

· Experienced in public liaison, community engagement, communications, or a related field (highways or infrastructure experience desirable but not essential).

· Competent in preparing written communications and presenting information in a clear, accessible way.

· Able to build rapport quickly and handle sensitive conversations professionally.
