Prison Officer – HMP Swaleside

His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service

Salary: £37,246 – £41,503

Prison officers protect the public and help to make a positive impact on people’s lives. If you have the integrity, skills and strength of character we’re looking for, this fast‑paced role could be the start of a successful career. No two days or situations are ever the same. As you gain experience you’ll find a range of opportunities to grow and develop.

About

You

There’s no such thing as a typical prison officer. Our people come from different walks of life, just like the offenders they work with. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, retail worker or have served in the armed forces, you’ll have developed the empathy, self‑confidence and great communication skills we expect.

You will be required to work various shifts and weekends and will take the time to build constructive, positive and professional relationships with offenders who could be at the lowest point in their lives. Teamwork plays a vital role in this environment, so you’ll need to be fully committed to supporting your colleagues and act as one team to keep the prison, offenders and everyone who works here safe.

What

You Can Expect From Us
  • Great training and opportunities for progression and development – including the chance to specialise in different areas.
  • A solid salary, 25 days holiday allowance, childcare vouchers, season ticket loans, retail discounts, Employee Assistance Programme and Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Sense of achievement from helping offenders get their lives back on track – an experience you won’t find elsewhere.
Qualifications
