Stores Operative

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Stores Operative to join a busy manufacturing environment based in Sittingbourne. This is a hands‑on, varied role that involves picking, packing, stock control, goods‑in/out, and working closely with the Stores Team Leader to ensure the smooth operation of the Stores Department.
Key Responsibilities- Pick and pack goods for dispatch, including boxes and crates, drive accessories, and equipment.
- Receive goods inwards, unload deliveries, and place stock into appropriate locations.
- Operate Forklift Trucks for loading/unloading vehicles and general stores duties.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using stock control systems and assist in stocktakes.
- Complete carrier paperwork and ensure orders are prepared accurately for dispatch.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment, adhering to Health & Safety procedures.
- Support the Stores Team Leader with daily operations and act as a point of contact during their absence.
- Liaise with Sales and Production teams to maintain high levels of operational efficiency.
- Carry out general maintenance checks on Forklift Trucks and ensure all equipment is in good working order.
- Assist other departments with tasks as required and approved by management.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing or factory environment (experience in a Stores department is desirable).
- Valid Forklift Truck experience (counterbalance or reach).
- Proficient in the use of technology and stock control systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording stock movements.
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills and the ability to take initiative.
- Flexible and adaptable with a positive approach to learning new skills.
- Must be physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- IT literate with the ability to maintain accurate records.
- 33 days Annual Leave including Bank Holidays.
