Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Contract Site Manager to support the delivery of multiple engineering and construction projects at a busy food manufacturing site in Clitheroe. The successful candidate will take responsibility for coordinating site activities, managing contractors, maintaining high health and safety standards, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with the agreed programme. Previous experience working within food manufacturing, FMCG or another highly regulated production environment would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities Manage and coordinate daily site activities across multiple project work streams. Supervise contractors, subcontractors and site personnel. Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with site procedures. Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and daily briefings. Review RAMS and ensure contractors comply with approved working methods. Monitor project progress against the agreed programme. Coordinate access, permits, isolations and interfaces with site operations.
Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and health and safety documentation. Identify and resolve site issues that could affect safety, quality or programme delivery. Ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained. Support weekend works and planned shutdown activities when required. Liaise with project managers, engineering teams, contractors and site stakeholders. Essential Qualifications Candidates must hold all the following:
Valid CSCS card SMSTS Valid First Aid at Work Fire Warden or Fire Marshal qualification Essential Experience Previous experience managing engineering, construction or installation activities on an operational industrial site. Strong contractor and subcontractor management experience. Good working knowledge of RAMS, permits to work, site inductions and safe systems of work. Strong understanding of construction health and safety requirements. Ability to coordinate several project activities simultaneously.
Confident communication and stakeholder-management skills. Willingness to work weekends when required.
Desirable Experience Previous experience in food and beverage, food manufacturing or FMCG environments. Experience delivering projects within a live production facility. Experience coordinating mechanical, electrical, civil or building-services contractors. Knowledge of hygiene, quality and operational requirements within food manufacturing. Contract Details This position is offered on an initial four-week rolling contract , with the potential for continued extensions depending on project requirements.
The role will be predominantly site-based in Clitheroe, and flexibility to support some weekend work is essential. Please to find out more about our Key Information Documents.
