Customs Brokerage Administrator

Location: Skelmersdale

Salary: £25,000 per annum

Hours: 4 on 4 off, 6:00am – 6:00pm

Contract: Temporary to Permanent

Our client is currently seeking a Customs Brokerage Administrator to join their expanding team in Skelmersdale. This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and detail-focused individual with experience in administration, logistics, customs, or freight forwarding, or someone looking to develop a career within this sector.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the customs clearance process, ensuring import and export shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with current regulations across air, sea, and road freight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process customs clearance documentation for import and export consignments
  • Prepare and submit customs declarations accurately and within required timescales
  • Input and maintain shipment and customs information using internal systems
  • Monitor clearance progress and ensure updates are communicated in a timely manner
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and complies with relevant regulations
  • Maintain accurate records and support the smooth running of the customs department
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure shipments progress efficiently
  • Follow company procedures and maintain high standards of accuracy, quality, and productivity
  • Attend training sessions and support ongoing professional development
  • Complete any additional administrative duties as required
Requirements
  • Previous experience within customs, freight forwarding, logistics, or a similar administrative environment (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive approach with a commitment to delivering excellent service
  • Basic accounting knowledge would be advantageous but is not essential
  • A valid standard DBS Check is a requirement for this position
