Teaching Assistants (TA) play a crucial role in supporting students at Hope High School. This is a challenging but rewarding role with no two days the same, supporting students and teaching staff to create a good learning environment for pupils to meet their goals academically and socially. This position is part time, term time only, with salary quoted as full time equivalent, paid on a pro‑rata basis.
Hope High School in Skelmersdale is a relatively small SEN school for young people aged 11 to 16 who have individual needs based on Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. The school has created a culture for learning and behaviour which enables pupils with additional needs to succeed.
We are a purpose‑built school with facilities designed to support our learners towards success, including a fully equipped cookery room, design technology workshop, art studio, forest school area, sports hall with gymnasium and climbing wall, and classrooms each having the latest learning technology. All pupils are provided with their own dedicated Windows 10 laptops, utilising MS Teams to enhance learning through technology.
Our experienced and skilled staff tailor individual strategies to improve pupils’ self‑esteem and confidence, supporting them to build relationships, develop positive behaviour and become motivated and enthusiastic learners.
At Hope High we understand the importance of home‑school partnerships and encourage active participation from all parents and carers, including regular communication via each pupil’s key worker and regular coffee mornings and barbeques. Parents and carers are also encouraged to be part of the target setting and review process which is in place for all pupils.
