Service Area: Facilities Services – District Caretaking

To support the District Caretaking team in delivering a high-quality environmental and facilities maintenance service across local areas, ensuring public spaces are clean, safe, and well maintained.

• Carry out grounds maintenance and environmental upkeep across assigned areas
• Use handheld plant and equipment including:
  • Strimmers
  • Hedge trimmers
  • Weed sprayers
  • Blowers
  • Jet washers
• Undertake general cleaning and maintenance of outdoor/public spaces
• Perform basic DIY tasks and minor repairs where required
• Work as part of a team to complete scheduled tasks efficiently
• Follow instructions from supervisors and complete work to required standards
• Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures and council policies

• Experience in a manual, outdoor or operational maintenance role
• Confident using handheld tools and maintenance equipment
• Basic understanding of DIY and practical repair work Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, physically fit, and willing to work outdoors in all conditions
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices

• Full UK driving licence (may be required for travel between sites)
• Previous experience within local authority or facilities/grounds maintenance services
