Monday Thursday: 8:00am 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am 3:30pm

Typically 1 hour before and/or after standard working hours

Contek Recruitment are currently working with a well-established precision engineering and fabrication company who are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Welding & Fabrication professional to join their growing team.
This is a hands-on charge hand-level role, suited to someone with strong technical authority and workshop experience who enjoys taking ownership of work on the shop floor. While this position does not involve formal people management, it does require a high level of practical knowledge, decision-making, and responsibility for quality, safety, and documentation.

The Role
As a Senior Welding & Fabrication / Chargehand, you will act as a key presence within the workshop. You will work predominantly hands-on, carrying out welding and fabrication tasks while also supporting the smooth running of day-to-day operations through quality checks, documentation, and coordination with engineering and management teams.
This role suits someone operating at charge hand / foreman level in terms of experience and capability, without the requirement for direct line management responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out hands-on welding and fabrication work to a high standard
Act as a technical point of reference on the shop floor
Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with specifications
Maintain quality standards across welded and fabricated components
Carry out and record dimensional surveys and basic quality checks
Complete and review delivery notes and associated job paperwork
Support planning of daily workloads and job priorities
Ensure compliance with health & safety and company procedures
Liaise with engineering, quality, and management teams to resolve technical or production issues
Assist with checking timesheets and job records where required
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience in a senior, charge hand, or foreman-level welding/fabrication role
Strong hands-on welding background (MIG/TIG experience preferred)
Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium
Ability to read and interpret fabrication and engineering drawings
Comfortable completing workshop documentation and basic reporting
Strong organisational skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach
Confident working autonomously and taking responsibility for work quality
