The team focuses on delivering renal replacement therapy to a group of patients from our specific catchment area. We are part of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and have the advantage of a large multidisciplinary team to liaise with while maintaining our own individual identity.
We offer an exciting opportunity for a candidate wishing to specialise within dialysis services. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and improve their knowledge and skills while building strong professional relationships with our regular patients and their families. Our patients attend the unit up to three times per week, every week, promoting the ability to provide an individualised plan of care.
This post will offer a registered nurse joining this specialist area of practice an excellent learning opportunity. You will join a small, friendly, multidisciplinary team committed to ensuring that best evidence‑based practice influences the care delivered to the patients. The long‑term nature of the condition enables the team to build professional relationships with the patient group, without impacting on the Professional Code.
The successful candidate will be expected to complete a comprehensive training and teaching package during a six‑week supernumerary period.
- Responsible for the assessment of patients’ care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of patient care.
- Participates in team leadership and the management of the ward/department, including supervision and delegation of work to junior staff as directed by the ward/department manager.
- Participates in teaching, mentoring and assessing of students, trainees and professional staff.
- The post is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team which contributes to the effective and economical use of available resources such as stock control and the ordering of supplies. The jobholder will be required to supervise junior staff on a day to day basis as directed by the line manager.
- Uses own initiative and acts independently within the bounds of existing knowledge and skills.

Job responsibilities- Responsible for assessing patients’ needs, planning and implementing and evaluating patient care attending for Haemodialysis.
- Working as part of a team to maintain a safe and clean unit.

- Ensure CPD is up to date.
- Previous hospital experience.
- Good verbal and written command of English.
- Good communication/interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan own time and that of junior staff, use own initiative and act independently within the bounds of existing knowledge and skills.
- Capable of working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to assess patient needs and plan, implement and evaluate care appropriately.
- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality.
- Evidence of recent and continuous professional development.
- Demonstrates a commitment to develop both personally and professionally within the role as the service needs require.
