Automotive Project Engineer – Textron Systems
Textron Systems, a leading manufacturer of advanced aerospace and defense solutions, is seeking an experienced Automotive Project Engineer to support the United States Marine Corps Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle (ARV) program. The role focuses on the Cottonmouth® ARV, a cutting‑edge recon platform that delivers superior mobility, survivability, and electronic warfare capabilities.

About the RoleAs an Automotive Project Engineer, you will lead multidisciplinary teams to plan and execute ARV automotive and vehicle‑specific activities, ensuring projects meet schedule, cost, and quality targets under the program controls of the EVMS and approved risk management processes.
ARV Project EngineerRoles and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Program Management to control program schedule and budget per EVMS requirements.
- Resolve schedule, resource, and technical conflicts.
- Navigate and lead multidisciplinary teams through complex technical problems and provide solutions.
- Collaborate with functional managers to organize and delegate tasks.
- Interact daily with program managers, planners, engineers, and technicians.
- Generate statements of work and manage outside contractor performance.
- Serve as a technical interface between engineering, Integrated Product Teams, and Supply Chain.
- Chair or delegate responsibilities for change control boards.
- Develop discretionary funding plans and requests for program execution.
- Provide recommendations to senior management on critical risk acceptance.
- Develop proposals (cost and technical) and basis of estimates for new business opportunities.
- Prepare and present engineering work products at internal review teams and external customer milestone reviews.
- Oversee Average Unit Manufacturing Cost (AUMC) for PPD vehicles and future production environments.
- Manage and coordinate all ARV automotive and vehicle‑specific activities, acting as liaison between teams and stakeholders.
- Coordinate vehicle and automotive design, development, integration, and test activities.
- Support the Chief Engineer in driving technical risk and maturity into system designs.
- Coordinate engineering support of vehicle builds, outfitting, testing, and final delivery.
- Deliver technical artifacts, including Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs).
- Support all vehicle, survivability, and automotive technical customer IPTs and working groups.
- Coordinate and communicate with Integrated Supply Chain, Engineering, Program Management, and Government customers on all ARV automotive tasks, risks, and issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline; graduate degree in engineering or management desired.
- 6+ years of related experience and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
- Experience developing system architectures and concepts of operations.
- Experience in program planning, control account management, and risk management.
- Experience leading internal and external programmatic and technical reviews.
- Experience in proposal processes and basis of estimate review.
