This role ensures the availability of equipment and supplies for endoscopy and surgical procedures; scrubs for surgeries; assists with endoscopy procedures; and performs additional duties as assigned by the RN.
Education- Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or a military program (online programs not accepted).
- OR five (5) years of Surgical Technologist experience.
- Required:
None. - Preferred:
One (1) year of experience in a similar medical setting.
- Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association. - Preferred:
Certification in Surgical Technology.
- Expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques.
- Knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and related instruments.
- Basic analytical skills.
- Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Ability to work a flexible, 24/7 schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability.
- Perform direct patient care duties.
- Organize activities and supplies based on surgical schedules and department needs.
- Provide care and services to patients/customers appropriate to their age and development under nurse supervision.
- Communicate patient‑care information to patients, families, and co‑workers.
- Maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials.
- Adapt to rapid changes in the department due to census, patient acuity, and resource availability.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Heavy work may involve lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50–75 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly. The job requires standing, walking, and sometimes bending or stooping. Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases is expected. Hazards may include exposure to hazardous medications and waste.
