Audiologist – ENT Clinic – Adults/Peds

This position is located at Ochsner Health. The audiologist administers diagnostic audiological exams, counsels patients, families and physicians, and evaluates, orders, and dispenses hearing aids and cochlear implants. The role involves prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of hearing and balance disorders for all ages.

• Assess auditory function in normal hearing and hearing‑impaired patients of all ages.
• Communicate educational, medical, and diagnostic procedural information to patients and families.
• Conduct comprehensive diagnostic audiological evaluations, newborn hearing screenings, and otoacoustic emissions.
• Assess candidacy of patients with hearing loss for hearing aids and implantable devices and provide appropriate rehabilitation options.
• Facilitate departmental practice by scheduling and coordinating all appointment types.
• Assist in orientation and training of new employees and attend in‑service/education programs.
• Fit and calibrate hearing aids and conduct auditory brainstem response evaluations as needed.
• Adapt communication to specific patient populations, ensuring privacy, respect, and clear explanations.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Education: Master’s degree in Audiology or Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) in the state of practice.

Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year in the audiology field.

Certifications: Current hearing‑aid license in the state of practice;
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC‑A) from ASHA.

• Computer skills for data entry and retrieval of patient information; proficient with Windows applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication and the ability to present information clearly to varying levels of individuals.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with patients and other healthcare professionals.
• Clinical skills indicative of a Board‑certified audiologist.
• Ability to identify, test, diagnose, and manage hearing disorders in all populations.
• Proficiency in counseling patients regarding hearing healthcare and treatment options.
• Ability to perform auditory brainstem response testing, vestibular assessments, otoscopies, and ear impressions.
• Working knowledge of hearing‑loss prevention methods.
• Time‑management skills to organize and prioritize duties within strict deadlines.
• Capacity to handle patients in a caring and respectful manner, including medically complex patients.

Work requires occasional lifting of 20–50 pounds and routine movement of patients, with standing and walking most of the time. Exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue is minimal; there is no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases. Hazardous medication or waste exposure is possible during routine clinical tasks.
