Assembly Technician – Loc Performance
American Rheinmetall Vehicles, LLC – Slidell, LA
Job SummaryThe Assembly Technician assembles, installs, and integrates hardware into vehicles. The Technician identifies issues and communicates with the Build Manager, Manufacturing Engineers, Design Engineers, and Material Handlers in support of daily tasks.
Essential Functions- Perform manual assembly tasks of installing hardware into vehicles per work instructions and plant floor guidance.
- Assembly tasks on interior and exterior of the vehicle.
- Use assembly tools and equipment to install hardware.
- Drive and perform vehicle functionality throughout the assembly process.
- Pull materials from kits to install on vehicles.
- Support assembly sequence development and execution.
- Document tasks completed.
- Communicate issues to plant floor leadership.
- Read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.
- Clean assembly area, tooling, and parts to maintain a safe work environment.
- Work with Engineering on troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
- Take initiative for assembly tasks.
- Support vehicle shipments to different sites.
- Provide guidance to other Technicians.
- Support material handling activities.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma/GED required, 2‑4 years’ experience in a similar position.
- OR Equivalent combined knowledge of relevant education and/or experience.
Background Prerequisites
- Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Physical demands.
- Read and interpret technical data (Work Instructions, Drawings, Installation Instructions).
- Use manual and electrical tools and other devices for vehicle assembly.
- Learn to drive ground combat vehicle.
- Learn ground combat vehicle functionality.
- Lift up to 45 pounds.
- Computer skills:
Microsoft, Non‑conformance Software, Work Instructions. - Stand and sit for long periods.
- Understand and follow directions.
- Knowledge of manufacturing capabilities required; prior plant experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; self‑motivated.
- Understand production schedules and shortages.
- Follow safety procedures, security protocol, and wear proper PPE.
