About This RoleThis role is in Textron System’s Land Systems business area.
Responsibilities- Start date is contingent upon full Land Vehicle award.
- Welding of Ballistic Steel materials in all positions. Must be able to work from standing, sitting, lying and kneeling positions. Some work must be accomplished with the use of mirror welding.
- Some work will have to pass RT, PT, and NDT type testing.
- Climbing on and over bulkheads, up and down ladders.
- Tack welding (kneeling, standing, sitting, lying, overhead burning of steel, dragging torch line).
- Use of jacks, porta‑powers and come‑a longs; some of which can weigh as much as 25 lbs.
- Lifting of material and tools (jacks, porta‑powers, come‑a longs, etc. Also loading and unloading of parts).
- Crawling through vehicle on top of floor plates and through hatch/door openings.
- Bending and twisting of your body as needed to get into different compartments.
- Operation of cranes and forklifts.
- Use of power tools (gougers, skill saws, cut saws, grinders). All require two hands on tools to operate in safe manner.
- Walking on top of vehicle roof and bottom plates when position in the rollover fixture to achieve welding on a flat.
- Need to be able to work with your hands.
- Two-Three (2-3) plus years of GMAW, FCAW and GTAW experience needed.
- Demonstrated skills based on the results of the welding test.
- Must be able to weld in all positions.
- Must be able to certify as a Welder in accordance with M& Policies/Procedures and Weld Standards.
- Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours as needed to accomplish the task or work with little or no prior notification.
- Must be able to read drawings, must know basic weld symbols and know how to use fillet weld gauges.
- High school diploma or GED certificate.

- Postural:
Ability to move extremities and spine throughout a sufficient range of motion from floor to overhead level. - Dexterity:
Good dexterity and use of one and two hands for hand tools and handling materials. - Cardiorespiratory demand:
Sufficient fitness to perform medium work involving constant standing and walking, material handling in a hot, humid environment. - General physical activities:
Standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, sensing touch, manual dexterity, speaking clearly, seeing distant/reading, reaching, hearing, depth perception, color vision, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, climbing stairs and balancing. - Physical demand level:
Medium. Must be able to perform medium labor classified by the U.S. Department of Labor. Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling not to exceed 60 lbs.
