The LPN Clinic is responsible for providing patient care following established standards and practices. Assists physician, nurse, and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and patient access. Coordinates patient flow, schedules appointments, procedures, tests, and referrals. May serve as a preceptor for clinical staff. Works under general supervision and may lead and direct the work of others within scope of practice.
The Medical Assistant 1 assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, obtains vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients' charts. May serve as a preceptor for clinical staff. May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens or swabs obtained for laboratory analysis.
Coordinates patient flow, schedules appointments, procedures, tests and referrals. May triage phone calls, call in non-narcotic prescriptions as per provider's direction, and frequently communicate with patients and their families. Works under close supervision of the physician and clinic manager.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Provides direct patient care utilizing the nursing process under the direction and supervision of the healthcare provider at all times.
- Reviews diagnostic test results and reports abnormal or changing patient conditions to the RN, physician, and appropriate team members immediately.
- Administers prescribed medications, therapies, and treatments in accordance with practical nursing standards at all times.
- Maintains a safe environment for patients and the healthcare team at all times.
- Delivers compassionate basic nursing care while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Implements components of the plan of care within the LPN scope of practice and competency to promote desired outcomes at all times.
- Collaborates effectively with supervising healthcare providers on the execution of patient care plans at all times.
- Assists physicians, RNs, and other team members with data collection, assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient and family care to achieve desired outcomes.
- Advocates for patients, supporting their psychological, ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs by collaborating with RNs and the healthcare team.
- Seeks out resources to increase practice knowledge and actively participates in unit teams, work groups, and committees as requested.
- Demonstrates knowledge of unit-based quality improvement initiatives and participates in quality improvement initiatives using standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery.
- Completes other duties assigned as required.
Medical Assistant
- Prepares exam rooms and maintains supplies and equipment for patient care.
- Ensures confidentiality of protected patient health information and follows HIPAA regulations.
- Documents patient visit notes accurately, including chief complaint, medical history, vitals, immunizations, allergies, medications, and wellness issues as directed by physician and organizational processes.
- Administers and documents waived testing under direct physician supervision.
- Assists physicians with minor surgical procedures and follows appropriate specimen handling protocols.
- Provides basic clinical care measures to all age groups per clinical skills checklist.
- Coordinates patient flow and manages scheduling to ensure physician efficiency.
- Instructs patients and families regarding diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, and wellness issues using pre-approved forms and information.
- Retrieves and sends requested patient information to authorized parties in a timely manner in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Notifies patients of test results, medication changes, and other treatment plan changes within 48 hours of results as instructed by the practitioner.
- Calls medication prescriptions into the appropriate pharmacy as ordered by the physician/practitioner.
