An international private bank based in London is looking to appoint an experienced SMCR Compliance Associate - ideal candidates should have Private Banking or Wealth Management background.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced regulatory compliance professional to take ownership of the firm's Training & Competence (T&C) and Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR) framework within a highly respected international banking environment.
The RoleYou'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the bank's SMCR framework remains robust, compliant and aligned with FCA expectations. Working closely with Senior Managers, HR and the wider Compliance team, you'll lead key governance, certification and competence initiatives while supporting ongoing regulatory engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the firm's Training & Competence framework and embedding FCA best practice.
- Managing the annual SMCR certification process and Fit & Proper assessments.
- Maintaining the FCA Directory and supporting Senior Manager applications and regulatory submissions.
- Delivering Conduct Rules training, certifications and annual attestations.
- Producing high-quality MI and reporting for Executive Committee and Board-level stakeholders.
- Managing competence frameworks, skills gap analysis and remediation plans.
- Supporting compliance training across areas including Financial Crime, Consumer Duty and Conduct.
- Driving continuous improvement across SMCR governance, policies and procedures.
You'll have:
- 5+ years' experience within Compliance, SMCR, Training & Competence or Regulatory Risk.
- Strong working knowledge of the FCA Handbook, including SMCR, COCON, SYSC, TC and FIT.
- Experience managing certification cycles and Fit & Proper assessments.
- Excellent governance, policy writing and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience producing Management Information and regulatory reporting.
- Professional qualifications such as ICA, CISI, CII or CIPD would be advantageous.
- £400-£450 per day
- Initial 6-month contract
