A new Assistant Quantity Surveyor role in Slough, working on managing the costs of building and civil engineering projects for a social housing property maintenance company.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early career Assistant QS to join a progressive and expanding company that supports professional development.

We are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Slough, supporting the management of costs related to housing refurbishment projects to maximize profitability while maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities and Duties

As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in preparing accurate cost estimates during tendering
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of project budgets
  • Gathering and analyzing data on material costs, labor, and equipment
  • Helping prepare and manage contracts, including reviewing terms and conditions
  • Monitoring contract compliance and assisting in resolving disputes and variations
  • Managing sub-contractor contracts and agreements
  • Measuring and valuing work completed on site for interim valuations
  • Assisting in preparing and submitting client payment applications
  • Handling subcontractor payments and ensuring timely reconciliation
  • Supporting procurement of materials and subcontractor services
  • Obtaining quotes and negotiating favorable terms with suppliers
  • Monitoring project costs and preparing regular cost reports
  • Identifying project risks and proposing mitigation strategies
  • Contributing to resolution of financial or contractual issues
  • Ensuring all work complies with legal, contractual, and company standards
  • Maintaining accurate records of costs, contracts, and communications

Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  • A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is advantageous
  • A valid UK driving license is desirable
