Quantity Surveyor - New Build Residential (Volume House building)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a successful and growing residential developer delivering high-volume new-build housing projects across the Slough and Berkshire region.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor with proven experience in volume house building who is looking to play a key role in managing costs and maximising project profitability from inception through to final account.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing all commercial aspects of multiple new-build residential developments.
  • Preparing and managing budgets, cost plans, and forecasts.
  • Procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Preparing tender documentation and carrying out tender analysis.
  • Negotiating subcontract agreements and managing subcontractor accounts.
  • Monitoring project costs, valuations, variations, and cash flow.
  • Producing monthly cost/value reconciliation reports.
  • Managing payments, final accounts, and commercial reporting.
  • Working closely with site, technical, and land teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within volume house building or large‑scale residential development.
  • Strong understanding of new‑build residential construction processes.
  • Experience managing subcontractor procurement and account management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent negotiation and commercial management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and cost control procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant surveying software.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline (preferred).
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or working towards chartership is advantageous.
