Salary: £40,000–£55,000 GBP (or €40,000–€55,000 EUR) depending on experience, plus performance bonus scheme
IntroductionArtelier is a leading international art consultancy based in the UK and Spain. With a portfolio spanning public art/exhibitions, private residential, yacht/aviation, corporate and hotel projects, we are a small team of passionate professionals.
Education and Experience- At least 10 years of professional experience researching, curating, designing, and managing FF&E and art for international commercial, hospitality, and private projects (excluding galleries and museums).
- Minimum university degree in project management, architecture, interiors/design, or an art‑related subject.
Note: Applicants who do not meet the essential criteria will not be considered.
Highly Desirable Criteria- Track record of delivering large-scale and complex international design projects and programmes.
- Experience managing budgets over £1 m.
- Knowledge of international shipping, imports/exports, and overseas logistics solutions.
- Team leadership and ability to inspire/manage a team of five or more.
- Experience working closely with client teams and managing project relations.
- Experience managing suppliers – preferably artists and galleries.
- Proven technical skills in project management software, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), and AutoCAD.
- Portfolio of design work and curation for projects, from concept to detailed design and documentation.
- Passion for modern and contemporary art and desire to expand knowledge.
- Research artists and maintain extensive knowledge of contemporary art, craft and design, including materiality.
- Lead a cutting‑edge approach to art curation, staying ahead of industry developments.
- Develop sophisticated, well‑researched, contextually relevant art concept presentations.
- Refine concept presentations through schematic design mark‑ups on floor plans, elevations and renders.
- Prepare detailed design documents and schedules with item specifications, procurement details and supplier information.
- Liaise with suppliers to establish stock levels, commissioning details and arrange sampling.
- Attend project sites to curate pieces and sign off final presentation.
- Maintain understanding of artistic processes, materials, and production methods to support decision making and quality control.
- Source suitable suppliers for artwork production, framing and installation.
- Review DD documents and verify artwork specifications prior to supply.
- Manage orders and contracts with artists, oversee the commissioning process and proactively address challenges.
- Troubleshoot technical or aesthetic issues with artworks and collaborate with artists for solutions.
- Oversee artwork inspections at studio and storage, ensuring quality standards, and escalating issues to the Director when necessary.
- Manage project timelines, track artwork orders, and provide regular reports to the Director.
- Liaise with clients to provide updates, including schedules, sampling, artwork progress and completion.
- Supervise and support project assistants and art technicians to achieve project goals.
- Prepare and manage project budgets; obtain quotes, place orders, track payments, and present financial summaries upon completion.
- Track client payments and liaise with the Director to ensure cash flow.
- Arrange large complex international shipments with shipping partners, including quotes, invoices and export documentation.
- Coordinate shipping at delivery stage to ensure smooth logistics.
- Develop and maintain relationships with trusted logistics and shipping partners.
- Visit sites to oversee installation of international projects and coordinate installation teams for smooth on‑site delivery.
As a small company you will likely be involved in day‑to‑day administrative tasks. You will be conscientious, highly professional and confident in a client‑facing role, and work well as a personable member of the team. The role will involve travel to key suppliers, clients and project locations.
