Position: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant
Location: Slough Borough, Berkshire
Salary: £85–£110 per day (depending on experience and responsibilities)
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term (with potential for permanent placement)
Start Date: Immediate or next available term
We are currently seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and resilient Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a welcoming and inclusive school community within Slough Borough
. This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and committed to helping them achieve both academically and emotionally.
The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, and moderate learning difficulties (MLD). Support may be provided on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
, depending on the needs of the pupils.

Key ResponsibilitiesAs an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing tailored support to pupils with special educational needs, both academically and emotionally
- Supporting the class teacher in adapting lesson materials to meet individual learning needs
- Implementing strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils develop social and emotional skills
- Supporting pupils with personal care, where required, in a respectful and dignified manner
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teachers and SENCOs
- Assisting with transitions between lessons and supporting pupils during unstructured times
- Promoting independence while offering appropriate levels of support
- Creating a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
We are looking for someone who is:
- Patient, empathetic, and emotionally intelligent
- Passionate about working with children with additional needs
- Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
- A strong communicator who can work collaboratively with staff and parents
- Flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of pupils
Previous experience working with SEN pupils is highly desirable, whether in a school, care, youth work, or therapeutic setting. However, individuals with transferable skills and a genuine commitment to SEN are also encouraged to apply.
