Are you an English graduate from a Russell Group university looking to gain meaningful school-based experience before pursuing teacher training, a Master's degree or a career in education? A high-performing secondary school in Hackney is seeking an English Tutor to join from September 2026 on a full-time basis until July 2027, with the potential to extend beyond the academic year.

English Tutor What the School Offers
£444 £ 513 per week via PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay)
Full academic year contract until July 2027 with potential extension

The Role
You will deliver targeted literacy interventions, support students within English lessons and provide 1:1 and small-group tuition for pupils requiring additional support. You will also work with SEND students to develop reading, writing and communication skills.
The Ideal Candidate
Russell Group graduate with a 2:1 or above in English or a related subject
Previous child-centred experience through tutoring, mentoring or coaching
Excellent communication skills and strong subject knowledge
Passionate about improving educational outcomes for young people
