About the Role

Are you a caring, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you'll play an important role in supporting pupils with special educational needs and helping them reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.
  • Support pupils with needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and other additional needs where appropriate.
  • Assist pupils with their learning and development by adapting activities and resources to meet their individual needs.
  • Encourage pupils to develop their confidence, independence, communication, and social skills.
  • Support pupils with their behaviour and emotional wellbeing, using positive and consistent strategies.
  • Assist with classroom activities, ensuring pupils are engaged, included, and supported throughout lessons.
  • Monitor pupils' progress and provide feedback to teachers and relevant staff.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, encouraging a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support pupils during break times, lunchtimes, school activities, and educational trips where required.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and other professionals to support pupil development and wellbeing.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Requirements
  • A caring, patient, and supportive approach to working with pupils.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children and encourage their confidence and independence.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
  • A willingness to support pupils with a range of additional needs and adapt to their individual requirements.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
