Job Summary
To facilitate and perform testing and qualification activities in the Laboratory.
To ensure that the equipment is well maintained and operated safely, and that the area is kept well organised.
To ensure that products requiring routine or qualification testing are being tested in a systematic and planned way, to ensure that they meet the required specifications.
To provide data that will help us to improve the quality and features of the products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Testing- Test and qualify existing products to ensure that they continue to meet the defined specifications and approvals.
- Be involved in the testing of new products, assist in their approval and ensure they meet the correct specification.
- Investigate any test failures or anomalies, following up with the relevant managers or departments.
- Report on the findings of the testing programmes, suggesting changes where appropriate and establishing measurements for improvements.
- Drive technical and statistical investigations on products and processes, including carrying out root cause analysis and implementing necessary corrective and preventative actions.
- Write test reports summarising findings, conclusions and pictorial evidence of the test as defined in the report templates.
- Own and manage all testing equipment, ensuring proper calibration, safety and maintenance.
- Involved in proposals for new equipment and potentially designing test fixtures.
- Oversee test procedures, amend and improve them as appropriate.
- Record test results for future reference.
- Liaise with key departments such as engineering, as well as customers and suppliers where appropriate.
- Give feedback to engineers on progress and issues relating to their work.
- Raise ideas for improvement or concerns where appropriate.
- Assist internal and external audit teams to ensure that the Quality system complies with the relevant standards.
- Champion all aspects of the Company's continuous improvement programme and identify opportunities for implementing process improvements.
- Set and maintain visible standards of housekeeping for all areas under their control.
- Undertake any additional tasks as may be delegated by the Laboratory Lead, Engineering or Quality Manager.
- Participate in the Company's safety initiatives.
- Set high personal standards in Health & Safety and Environment.
- Ensure full adherence to the Company's environmental procedures.
- Technical Education or HNC/HND or equivalent work experience.
- Several years of hands‑on experience in Mechanical, chemical and environmental testing.
- Familiarity with aerospace materials, components, and industry standards (e.g., AS9100).
- Knowledge in operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation (e.g., tensile testers, fatigue machines, environmental chambers).
- Data analysis and technical report writing.
- Clear verbal and written communication.
- Organizational skills for scheduling and resource management.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Problem‑solving and root cause analysis capability.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and manage multiple priorities.
