We are seeking several ambitious and driven Data Centre Engineering Shift Managers to join our growing Data Centre Operations team on a newly built state of the art facility. As an Data Centre Engineering Shift Manager
, you’ll be the technical and operational leader on site, driving performance, reliability, and safety across your shift. You’ll oversee all maintenance activities, ensure critical systems uptime, and lead a high-performing team of engineers to deliver exceptional standards in a 24/7 live environment.
This role is all about leadership, accountability, and innovation — keeping critical infrastructure running while mentoring the next generation of data centre engineers.
- Lead and inspire a team of shift engineers, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
- Oversee all planned and reactive maintenance activities across electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
- Act as an Authorised Person (HV), maintaining a safe system of work and ensuring all compliance documentation is in place.
- Respond rapidly and effectively to real-time incidents and alarms
, ensuring minimal downtime and clear communication. - Manage Permit to Work systems
, review RAMS, and uphold the highest safety and operational standards. - Drive continuous improvement across the site — optimising performance, energy efficiency, and reliability.
- Mentor and develop your team, delivering technical training, toolbox talks, and professional growth opportunities.
- Represent the operations team with professionalism and technical authority in all client and vendor interactions.
- Proven experience as an Engineering Shift Manager or Supervisor within Data centre or mission-critical operations
. - Strong technical background with High Voltage Authorisation
. - NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and Emergency First Aid at Work certification.
- Demonstrable experience managing real-time incidents and coordinating engineering teams under pressure.
- A proactive approach to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
