Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services, is currently recruiting for a Controls Project Engineer Contractor on behalf of Mars at their Plymouth site. This role is essential for delivering robust Electrical, Control, and Automation (EC&A) projects, driving technical execution, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Purpose

As a Controls Project Engineer Contractor, you will provide critical technical expertise and day-to-day project support across electrical and automation initiatives. You will act as a pivotal bridge between cross-functional teams, contractors, and site stakeholders to ensure that engineering projects are scoped, designed, commissioned, and delivered safely, on time, and in strict alignment with Mars safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Project Support & Delivery:
    Deliver technical input into the scoping, design, and execution of engineering projects, including the preparation of technical documentation, specifications, and design reviews.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    Issue work permits for contractors and ensure all engineering activities rigorously comply with Mars site safety procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Testing & Commissioning:
    Attend and actively participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and support the commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of automation systems.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    Manage and collaborate with key stakeholders, including internal associates, external contractors, and suppliers, to maintain alignment on project timelines and objectives.
  • Team

    Collaboration:

    Contribute to a dynamic engineering team, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance overall departmental capabilities.
About You
  • Education &

    Qualifications:

    A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline. Professional certifications like PMP, NEBOSH, or PLC certifications (Siemens/Mitsubishi/Allen Bradley) are highly advantageous.
  • Experience:

    A proven track record of delivering Controls, Automation, and Electrical projects, preferably within an FMCG or manufacturing/logistics environment.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Desirable hands-on experience with PLC systems (with a preference for Mitsubishi and/or Allen Bradley), SCADA, HMI, and industrial networks. Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities are essential.
  • Soft Skills:

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. You should be a collaborative team player who excels at managing multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.
