About the roleWe have a brand-new opportunity for a Workplace Fit-Out Lead / Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our team in London.
This is a senior, client-facing role focused on leading mechanical design delivery for workplace fit-out projects, from initial brief through to technical completion. You will work closely with clients, architects, contractors and internal multidisciplinary teams to develop robust, efficient and coordinated design solutions for high-quality office and workplace environments.
As a senior member of the team, you will take responsibility for leading projects, supporting junior engineers, and ensuring technical excellence, commercial awareness and strong delivery throughout.
In this key and varied role, you can expect to:
- Lead mechanical design delivery on workplace fit-out projects, including CAT A, CAT A+, CAT B and refurbishment schemes.
- Act as a key client contact, attending meetings, understanding the brief and translating it into practical design solutions.
- Develop strategic concepts and detailed mechanical designs that meet project, regulatory and performance requirements.
- Coordinate closely with architects, interior designers, structural engineers, contractors and specialist consultants.
- Oversee technical quality, programme and delivery across multiple concurrent projects.
- Support and mentor junior staff, sharing knowledge and encouraging professional development.
- Work collaboratively across disciplines to deliver integrated workplace environments.
- Monitor workload, fees and resources in support of project success.
- Contribute to innovation, best practice and continuous improvement across the team.
- Maintain a strong professional reputation and ensure compliance with quality and risk procedures.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer working on workplace fit-out projects.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, public health and building services coordination in commercial office environments.
- Experience leading projects and managing client relationships.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary consultancy environment.
- Proficiency in relevant tools such as Revit and AutoCAD.
- Good understanding of British Standards, Building Regulations and workplace design requirements.
- Consultancy experience, with a strong commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication, leadership and collaboration skills.
- Confidence to lead design decisions and guide project teams effectively.
