Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Langley

Travelport is the brains behind lots of your travel bookings- plane, car or hotel. Our technology is used to book that magical holiday, long-awaited bucket list trip or that overdue school reunion. While we can’t solve mosquito bites or lost luggage, we can simplify a lot of the technical parts of travel, and we’re looking for the best thinkers to help us do it.

We’re hiring right now for an Entity Controller!

How you’ll make an impact:

The General Ledger (GL) teams are organized by region, with teams for America, Europe, and Asia based in Langley. This position is part of the America GL team. The core purpose of this role is to support the accounting for our principal US operating companies and our US-based global technology business. As a member of the Finance team, you will play a crucial part in understanding accounting, business, and operations, including analyzing and explaining P&L and balance sheet variances in detail.

This role will report to the Finance Manager, Accounting. Although sub-ledger teams (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and TAI) handle day-to-day accounting, the senior accountant at the entity level holds ultimate responsibility for the TB. Additionally, this role is expected to aid in global standardization efforts and support other entities as needed.

Your role in action:
  • Management of month, quarter, and year-end timetable, ensuring bottlenecks are resolved and escalating issues as appropriate, including thorough review of trial balance provided by the BPO, detailed revenue, cost of revenue, operating expense and balance sheet variance and trend analyses.
  • Collaborate with the outsourced BPO partner and provide support to the team to achieve agreed objectives.
  • Responsible for general ledger accounting for complex transactions within Travelport Americas, directing the functional work of other team members as appropriate.
  • Capable of deputizing for Finance Manager when required
  • Review/Approve and/or prepare manual journal entries required to complete month-end and annual accounts and to ensure the accuracy and timely posting of entries from sub-ledgers and other entry sources.
  • Performing analytical review during month end close to identify and correct any accounting issues as they occur
  • Ensure that all accruals, prepayments and any other adjusting entries are booked as necessary along with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Review/Approve and/or prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all accounts.
  • Ensure control accounts are analyzed and cleared monthly.
  • Review/Approve and/or prepare monthly legal entity reporting packs providing Balance Sheet and P & L analysis and supporting commentary.
  • Produce information required by external auditors, including that referred to in Prepared by Client schedules, and any other accounting documentation to satisfy audit requirements.
  • Provide accurate financial accounting information and analysis to other interested parties including decision support, tax, controllership, and senior management.
  • Responsible for Key control processes and compliance as it relates to controls assigned to these areas.
  • Review and improvement of processes.
  • Coordination of Prepared by Client list requests to the external audit timetable, working with the BPO to provide required documentation and acting as the key point of contact for auditor queries.
  • Preparation of Financial statements of any legal entity and replying to Audit questions
  • Respond promptly to all audit questions and items on the PBC list provided by the auditors.
Could this be you?
  • Qualified or QBE accountant
  • Practical and proven accounting experience in a similar large multinational organization
  • High level of computer literacy including Excel spreadsheets (pivot tables, Vlookups etc), word processing (Microsoft), and experience with automated accounting systems. Oracle experience highly desirable.
  • Exposure to US GAAP and SoX desirable, but not a requirement
  • Sound commercial awareness
  • Able to work autonomously to deliver well-defined outputs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple organizations, across time-zones, both inside and outside of Travelport
  • Strong team-player, able to demonstrate flexibility, and resilience
  • Must be comfortable dealing with change, and have a desire to continually improve processes
Benefits

We offer a package that includes 25 days annual leave per annum, hybrid working model, pension contribution, private medical, life assurance and personal travel insurance.
