Mental Health Assistant – Slough

We are currently recruiting for a Mental Health Assistant to join a specialist school in Slough that caters to children with a range of complex learning difficulties, including autism, global developmental delay, and communication needs. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to work closely with students who require consistent, patient, and compassionate support.

As a Mental Health Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping children access learning, manage their emotions, and build confidence in a safe and structured environment.

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex learning disabilities
• Assist in delivering individualised learning and behaviour plans
• Promote emotional wellbeing and independence through daily interactions
• Support non-verbal communication and sensory regulation strategies

• A degree in Psychology, Counselling, Education, or related experience
• A strong interest in supporting children with additional needs
• Adaptability, resilience, and a proactive attitude
• Experience with autism, non-verbal communication, or sensory needs is desirable but not essential
