HR Generalist / Talent Management, Regulatory Compliance Specialist

About The Role
At Atlas, our people are the heart of everything we do. As we continue to grow and strengthen our HR function, we’re looking for a proactive and compassionate HR Officer who is ready to support our teams while developing into a confident Employee Relations specialist.
Fixed‑term contract until February 2027.
No two days are ever the same, but your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:
Employee Relations Support (Core Focus)- Manage day‑to‑day absence cases, progressing over time to become an Absence Management SME (Subject Matter Expert) for the business.
- Support with AWOL cases, ensuring managers follow process and employees receive fair communication.
- Administer and track probation reviews, ensuring timely follow‑up and documentation.
- Prepare and issue Letters of Concern and other low‑level HR correspondence.
- Attend and provide note‑taking support in formal meetings (disciplinary, grievance, appeal, capability, consultations).
- Assist in preparing investigation and disciplinary packs, ensuring evidence is clear, complete and well presented.
- Support in assembling redundancy and restructure packs, building capability in this more complex area.
- Liaise with Occupational Health, review reports and support managers with next steps.
- Assist in capability cases, including both ill‑health and performance‑related matters.
- Help ensure all cases are tracked, progressed and closed in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate employee data and documentation within our HR systems.
- Provide first‑line HR guidance to managers on policies and processes.
- Draft letters, meeting invites, follow‑up actions and procedural documents.
- Work collaboratively across the wider HR team on people initiatives and improvement projects.
- Has experience in a generalist HR role and is motivated to build confidence in Employee Relations.
- Communicates clearly and professionally.
- Is organised, methodical and able to juggle conflicting priorities.
- Has strong attention to detail and produces accurate, high‑quality work.
- Works well both independently and as part of a supportive team.
- Shows resilience and a calm, balanced approach when handling sensitive matters.

- Experience in an HR Officer/HR Assistant role within a fast‑paced environment.
- Basic understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Confidence in handling early‑stage ER tasks such as absence, probation and low‑level conduct concerns.
- Strong written communication skills and confident use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- A Right to Work in the UK.
- Experience with Occupational Health referrals or absence management.
- Exposure to discipline or grievance processes (even if only administrative support so far).
- CIPD Level 3 (working towards Level 5 welcome).
- Experience in Facilities Management, Cleaning or Security.
- Familiarity with unionised environments.
