Regular travel to other company sites required The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for an experienced and proactive HR Manager to join a well-established transport and logistics business based in Slough. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment and is confident managing a wide range of employee relations matters. Supporting a workforce of up to 300 employees , you will play a key role in delivering effective HR support across the business, working closely with senior management and operational teams to ensure best practice and compliance with UK employment legislation.
Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day HR operations, providing guidance and support to managers and employees across the business. Lead and manage disciplinary, grievance and employee relations cases from start to finish. Conduct investigations, disciplinary hearings and formal employee meetings. Provide practical advice on UK employment law, HR policies and procedures. Support managers with absence management, performance management and employee wellbeing. Oversee HR processes including onboarding, probation reviews and employee documentation.
Ensure HR policies and procedures are consistently applied across multiple sites. Build strong working relationships with operational managers and senior leadership. Support workforce planning, retention and ongoing HR improvements. Travel to other company locations as required to provide on-site HR support. About You We are looking for an experienced HR professional who is confident, approachable and capable of managing challenging employee relations situations independently.
Essential Requirements:
Previous experience in an HR Manager, HR Advisor or similar generalist HR role. Strong disciplinary and employee relations experience is essential. Proven experience managing complex employee relations cases and conducting formal investigations. Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices. Experience supporting a large workforce, ideally within a fast-paced operational environment. Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
Confidence working with managers at all levels of the business. Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. Full, valid UK driving licence is essential. Willingness and flexibility to travel to other company sites. Ability to work 5 days per week on-site in Slough . Desirable:
Previous HR experience within transport, logistics, distribution or a similar operational industry. CIPD qualification or equivalent HR experience. Experience supporting a multi-site business.
