We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join our team and play a key role in protecting our systems, data, and customers while driving our cyber maturity forward.
As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will design, implement, and enhance security controls across our technology landscape, from cloud environments (AWS & Azure) to software development and core infrastructure. You will help ensure security is built into designs.
You will work closely with cross‑functional teams in an Agile environment, influencing how products are built and delivered securely, balancing strong protection with the need for speed and innovation.
This is a hands‑on engineering role, ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, writing code, and collaborating with others to embed security into everything we do.
This role can be based from our Slough, Welwyn Garden City or Manchester office (2 days a week in the office).
Responsibilities- Implement and improve enterprise‑scale security controls across network, endpoint, cloud, software, and data
- Embed security into the software development lifecycle (Dev Sec Ops )
- Translate technical security requirements into scalable, practical solutions
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure products are secure by design
- Support the delivery and operation of security controls, not just their implementation
- Contribute to improving Tesco Mobile's overall cyber security maturity
- Promote best practices and awareness across the business
- Strong background in Cyber Security Engineering in a modern environment
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure)
- Knowledge of Git Hub and security tooling (e.g., Git Hub Advanced Security)
- Proven experience implementing enterprise‑level security controls
- Experience integrating security into the software development lifecycle
- Ability to code or script in languages such as Python, Power Shell or Terraform
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders
- Experience with IAM solutions at scale
- Understanding of application security tooling
- Knowledge of frameworks such as NIST or MITRE ATT&CK
- Awareness of current cyber threats and attack techniques
- Relevant certifications or continuous learning in cyber security
