An exciting opportunity has arisen for a multi-skilled Data Centre Engineer to join a highly regarded organisation in Hertfordshire. Working as part of a small, dedicated team, you will deliver critical Data Centre services for a prestigious international financial services client, ensuring maximum uptime and operational excellence within a mission‑critical environment.
Key Responsibilities- Execute and adhere to approved Change Management processes.
- Manage and resolve incidents promptly and effectively.
- Track, manage and maintain Data Centre assets and inventory.
- Supervise and escort third‑party vendors on site.
- Install, relocate and decommission IT hardware in accordance with Data Centre standards.
- Install, remove and maintain structured cabling and network infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate documentation, asset records and operational procedures.
- Fulfil service requests within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Adhere to all internal and client Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, operational procedures and security protocols.
- Control and monitor secure access to the Data Centre environment.
- Operate and maintain Data Centre management toolsets.
- Support the governance and day‑to‑day operation of the Data Centre environment.
- Work closely with Facilities teams to optimise energy efficiency and environmental performance.
- Carry out installations, moves, additions, changes and decommissioning activities.
- Contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives.
- Perform basic server configuration, including iDRAC and iLO.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and escalat

* * hardware and infrastructure faults. - Rack, stack, patch and relocate IT equipment.
- Support major infrastructure projects, including power upgrades and equipment replacements.
- Manage complex copper and fibre cabling installations across racks and data halls to maintain a stable, high‑performing environment.
- Previous experience working within a high‑availability, mission‑critical environment, ideally a Data Centre.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, server hardware and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with structured cabling, patching and hardware installations.
- Excellent attention to detail with a proactive and methodical approach.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and IT service management tools.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Comfortable working under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Flexible and willing to work a 24/7 rotating shift pattern.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Familiarity with ITSM tools such as Service Now or BMC Remedy.
- Knowledge of Data Centre best practices and operational standards.
- Experience supporting enterprise or financial services environments.
